By the end of 2022, there is a chance that the ʻakikiki will no longer be found in the wild. In recent years climate change rapidly accelerated the spread of mosquitoes on Kaua'i. As of the writing of this there are possibly just a couple dozen ʻakikiki left. ʻAkikiki are truely one of the best of Hawaii's native birds. They have the biggest peronality in a compact little gray form.
