For December its the iconic ʻiʻiwi in the equaly iconic ʻōhiʻa. These two species are easily some of the most recognizable across Hawaiʻi and both are culturally, and enviornmentally important. ʻŌhiʻa are the foundation or nearly all forests in Hawaiʻi and ʻiʻiwi are one of the last living species that can polinate a wide range of native Hawaiian plants.
